Backup a database
1) Close the desired database.
NOTE: In a multi-user environment, have all users close the database.
2) Open Windows Explorer:
a) Choose the 'Start' button to display the Windows 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Programs' from the menu. (A submenu opens.)
c) Select 'Windows Explorer' from the submenu. (The Exploring window appears.)
3) In the 'Exploring' window, locate the database file to backup:
a) Select the drive where the database file is located.
b) Select the folder that contains the file. (The file appears in the Exploring window.)
NOTE: If the file is in a subfolder, continue selecting the folder(s) until the file is displayed.
4) Select the database file. (The database file is highlighted.)
NOTE: To select more than one database file in the same folder, press and hold down CTRL while clicking on each file.
5) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Copy'.
6) Select the disk where the backup copy is to be stored. (The disk opens with any folders on the disk.)
7) (Optional) Select the folder that should contain the backup copy.
8) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste'.
9) If there is a workgroup information file related to the database, repeat steps 3) through 8) to back up the workgroup information file.
NOTE: If the backup copy has to be stored on a floppy diskette, and the database file exceeds the size of the diskette, use Microsoft Backup, the MS-DOS backup command, or a third-party backup software program to copy the file over more than one diskette.
